Looking for a sweet treat that’s quick, healthy, and doesn’t require turning on the oven? These Frozen Strawberry Yoghurt Bites are a total win—especially when the strawberries are ripe and in season.

We’ve made the banana and peanut butter version before (yum!), but this strawberry edition is hitting the spot right now—fresh, fruity, chocolatey, and oh-so-satisfying.

They’re the perfect mini project to do with the kids on a warm afternoon—super simple, freezer-friendly, and way healthier than your average store-bought dessert.

Why You’ll Love Them:

  • No baking needed – ready in minutes
  • Naturally sweet and made with real fruit
  • High in protein thanks to Greek yoghurt
  • Customisable with your favourite toppings
  • Great for kids to help make
  • Healthier than ice cream bars or packaged snacks
  • Store in the freezer for up to 3 months

Get the Kids Involved!

These frozen strawberry yoghurt bites are perfect for little hands in the kitchen!

Kid-friendly jobs:

  • Slice the strawberries (older kids with supervision)
  • Arrange strawberry rounds into clusters
  • Spoon and spread the yoghurt
  • Stir chopped nuts into melted chocolate
  • Drizzle chocolate on top (messy = fun!)

Top Tip: Let them pop in the ice pop sticks before freezing—it turns them into mini fro-yo lollies they’ll love holding (and eating!).

Letting kids help makes them more excited to try these healthy treats—and proud of what they’ve made!

Ingredient Breakdown – Frozen Strawberry Yoghurt Bites

Strawberries

Naturally sweet, juicy, and in season during summer. Rich in vitamin C, fibre, and antioxidants. Forms the fruity base of each bite.

Greek Yoghurt

Thick and creamy with a tangy kick. High in protein and calcium, keeps the treat balanced and satisfying. Use full-fat for a creamier texture or low-fat for a lighter option.

Chocolate Chips

Brings sweetness and that perfect snap once frozen. Choose dark, milk, or even white chocolate depending on your preference.

Chopped Nuts (optional)

Add crunch, healthy fats, and a nutty flavour. Almonds and hazelnuts work beautifully—plus they add a nice contrast to the creamy yoghurt and soft fruit.

These frozen yoghurt bites are a staple in our house over summer—quick to prep, freezer-ready, and the kids love helping with every step (especially the chocolate part!).

Whether you need a post-playground snack or just want a little something sweet that doesn’t come in a wrapper—this is it. Why not try Healthier Homemade Magnums too!

Prep Time 20 minutes
Freeze time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 20 minutes
Servings 18 rounds

Ingredients

  • 6 strawberries- sliced into 18 round pieces
  • 6 tablespoons yoghurt – I used a quality greek yoghurt with high protein
  • 3/4 cup 100g chocolate chips – melted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts optional – almonds hazelnuts work well

Instructions

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper. (make sure the tray will fit in the freezer)
  • Place the strawberry pieces on the tray, 3 per bite. Space them apart.
  • Spoon on the yoghurt, use the back of the spoon to smooth out.
  • Melt the chocolate, I melt mine in the microwave, 30 seconds, then check it every 10 seconds, pour in the chopped nuts and stir well. Spoon the nutty melted chocolate over the yoghurt.
  • Place in the freezer for 1 hour to set.
  • Tip: They can be a bit tricky for kids to hold, so add an ice pop stick to the middle of the bites and then freeze them, so they can hold it using a stick once frozen.
  • Storage: If not eating that day, store in an airtight container in the freezer for 3 months. Yoghurt will not be soft like ice cream but it will soften as it melts and its a delicious treat.
