Easy Cheese Rolls
Equipment
Ingredients
- 300 g self raising flour – or use plain flour and sift in 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 80 g cheddar cheese grated plus 2 tablespoons extra to top the rolls
- ½ tsp salt – optional
- 330 g thick greek yoghurt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven 200ºc fan or air fryer 170c
- Mix together the flour, cheese, salt and yoghurt, work it into a dough. If its very sticky add a bit of flour.
- Shape into a round and divide into 8 pieces.
- Roll each dough ball into a little roll shape.
- Airfry: Spray the basket add the rolls, bake for 6 minutes, then add the extra cheese and bake again for another 5-6 minutes.
- Oven: Line a baking tray with parchment paper, put the rolls on the tray, top with the cheese. Bake for 20 minutes, until they are nice and golden.
- Once baked put them on a wire rack to cool.
- Storage: Store in an air tight container for 3 days.
- Freezer: Good in the freezer for 3 months, defrost overnight.
- Lunchbox: Serve as they are or with butter and a filling along with fruit, yoghurt and whatever else your child likes.

I made these yesterday and they’re delicious. I couldn’t get my dough from being very sticky no matter how much flour I kneaded in so shaping them was tricky, I called them rustic 😆.
What times for the air fryer would you recommend if I was to split the dough into 6th’s or even 4th’s to make bigger rolls?
Thanks for trying them Kate. Yes the dough can be sticky but well done persevering with it! For bigger rolls give about 6 minutes more. When they’re done they should feel light to lift – if they are heavy there’s still raw dough inside do cook for a bit longer. Lou x
