- 6 eating apples, green or red, peeled or unpeeled (Golden Delicious are a great choice; washed and diced, with the cores discarded)
- Juice of ½ lemon (for a hint of tanginess and to preserve the vibrant colour)
Instructions
- Prepare Your ApplesWash, peel and chop the apples into medium chunks, making sure to remove the core and seeds (Juice of 6 eating apples, green or red, peeled or unpeeled lemon peel them if you like, I prefer to keep the skins on for more fibre.Juice of ½ lemon
- Steam or BoilPlace the apple chunks in a steamer basket over boiling water, or boil them in a pot with a small amount of water. Cook until they’re soft and tender, which should take about 10–15 minutes. If boiling, strain the apples to remove excess water before blending.
- Blend Until SmoothAllow the apples to cool slightly, then transfer them to a powerful blender or a nutri blender. Add the juice of half a lemon and blend until smooth. The result should be a velvety, lump-free apple sauce.
- Store in Clean JarsPour the blended apple sauce into sterilised jars or airtight containers. Let it cool completely before sealing. Store it in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
